Meet the Founders
Kimberly Lou | Founder | Ph.D | LAADC | Addiction Specialist
Kimberly Lou’s work is rooted in a belief she learned through lived experience: our past may shape us, but it does not have to define what comes next.
Long before becoming a doctor, educator, mentor, and founder, Kimberly Lou knew what it meant to survive. Her own journey has included trauma, addiction, relapse, recovery, motherhood, professional burnout, and the difficult work of rebuilding a life from the inside out. Those experiences did not become something she simply “overcame.” They became part of the foundation for how she understands people, healing, leadership, and the possibility of change.
Today, Kimberly Lou brings together decades of lived experience with advanced education in psychology, addiction, trauma, and human behavior. Her approach goes beyond traditional psychology, coaching or symptom management. She is interested in what exists underneath the behavior: the patterns we repeat, the relationships that shape us, the ways we learn to survive, and what becomes possible when we finally understand ourselves well enough to choose differently.
Over the course of her career, Kimberly Lou has worked with people from vastly different walks of life, including celebrities, executives, entrepreneurs, professional athletes, public figures, individuals struggling with addiction and mental health concerns, and families trying to find their way back to one another. Regardless of status or circumstance, she has found that people are often searching for the same things: connection, meaning, self-trust, and the freedom to become who they know they are capable of being.
That belief ultimately led Kimberly Lou to create several companies, including Guiding Hands Healthcare and Guiding With Care. What began as a desire to give others the kind of second chance she had been given grew into a larger mission: creating environments where people are treated with dignity, compassion, accountability, and genuine human connection. Her work has continued to expand into clinical education, mentorship, mental health advocacy, and support for first responders, veterans, individuals in recovery, and their families.
Kimberly has appeared on E! Entertainment, MTV, HBO, ESPN, MSNBC, and Showtime, but those accomplishments are not what she considers the most meaningful parts of her story.
Her life today is about something much simpler and much bigger: turning what she has lived through into something useful for someone else.
She continues to believe deeply in the principle that has guided much of her life in recovery: you cannot keep what you have unless you are willing to give it away.
And beyond every credential, company, accomplishment, and title, Kimberly Lou’s most important role remains being Summer’s mom. Because at the end of the day, success is not simply about what we build. It is about who we become, how we love, and what we leave behind in the lives of other people.
